The 3 Biggest Content Mistakes Lifestyle Brands Make (and How I Fix Them)

Lifestyle brands don’t just sell products and services- they sell a feeling, a way of life. And yet, so much lifestyle content falls flat and doesn’t speak to its audience in the way it should.

As a freelance copywriter who works with lifestyle brands, I see the same three content mistakes over and over again. Here they are- and how I help brands fix them:

  1. Focusing on the Product/Service Instead of the Person

I often see lifestyle brands talking at their audience instead of to them. Their content is filled with product or service features, launches, updates whilst missing the most important bit- the customer’s life. Lifestyle buyers don’t wake up wanting a product or service, they wake up wanting to be a better version of themselves and look to you to help.

How I fix it:

I help you to shift the focus from what you sell to who your customer wants to be. I write content that speaks to their day-day lives, their values, their emotional triggers and position your product or service naturally as part of that lifestyle. This results in content that feels relatable instead of promotional.

  1. Having a ‘Pretty’ Brand Voice with No Personality

A lot of lifestyle content looks aesthetically pleasing, but says nothing. It’s no good having content that is polished and looks nice but doesn’t have anything that makes the reader think ‘this brand gets me’. When your voice is generic, your content is forgettable.

How I fix it:

I help brands to define and own a clear and consistent voice throughout their content. Every blog post, caption, newsletter or email sounds like it’s coming from the same personality and tone of voice. This consistency builds familiarity, trust and brand loyalty over time.

  1. Creating Content with No Clear Purpose

Posting content ‘just to post something’ is one of the best ways to waste good content. Too many brands create blogs, emails and social posts without a clear goal, so there’s no strategy behind the content and no step for the audience once they have finished reading it. Content without direction rarely converts.

How I fix it:

I write with intention to ensure that every piece of content has a role. Whether it is attracting new readers, gaining trust, educating your audience or driving them to do something specific, I structure content to guide them naturally.

Why Are These Fixes Important?

Lifestyle brands thrive on connection, and your content needs to speak to the right people, in the right voice, with the right purpose. As a freelance copywriter I help brands  turn vague, surface-level content into meaningful stories that create connection, conversions and long-term loyalty for your brand.

If your content looks good but isn’t doing anything, it is probably making one of these mistakes- and I’d love to help you fix it.
