Freelance Writers vs AI: Are Freelancers at Risk?

To be completely honest, as a freelance writer I am tired of hearing about AI. I understand that in this modern day, people want to do things quickly and efficiently, but I do also believe in quality over quantity, and quality is just one thing that, in my opinion, businesses do not get when relying on AI for their written content.

AI has its uses- this amazing step in technology has a lot of purposes that can improve people’s lives, and I myself have used it to answer random curiosities when I needed an answer quickly. But when it comes to my small businesses, my written content and the content of my clients, using AI is just a big no.

So what are the benefits to using an actual human writer over asking AI to write you a blog post? Here are just a few:

Emotional Intelligence

When you ask a human being to write your content- be that blog posts, newsletters, emails or social media posts, you automatically sign up to get content that is filled with human emotion. When you share your written content with your customers, you want to connect with them on a personal level, and AI cannot write things in the same way as a person. You know your tone of voice and how you want your content to sound, and communicating this with an actual writer is the best way to achieve this.

Accuracy

When freelance writers like myself take on a content job, we spend a long time conducting thorough research about the topic we are writing about, ensuring our information is accurate, and comes from reliable sources. You don’t know where AI has got its sources from, and therefore it is irresponsible to use it in your written content.

No Plagiarism

AI tools often rely on algorithms to produce the content, and therefore information is taken from a mixture of different sources. There is a big risk of such information copying existing online content, which impacts the quality of your content as well as increasing the possibility of plagiarism.

Time Saving

Whilst some people may use AI purely because they don’t have time to produce their own written content, you can use freelance writers, like myself, to take the job off yourself, at the same time feeling assured that your copy and content is in professional hands. AI may seem quick and convenient, but there are more negatives than positives to using it, especially when you can have a freelancer on hand to do the job properly.

To put it bluntly- in a world where AI seems to be taking over- scamming people, being used to trick people into believing things are real when they aren’t, and taking on more and more everyday human job roles, people want to see things that aren’t AI generated.

This absolutely applies to your business's written content: you should be sharing human, relatable and personable content with your clients and stepping away from the generic AI content to connect with your customers more deeply and promote your business in the best possible light.
