Whether you are single or not, solo dates are a great thing to do at least once in a while to take some time for yourself, recharge your social battery and do something fun at the same time. They are a great confidence booster, especially if you are nervous about doing things solo, and you don’t have to do anything extreme or expensive, especially when you are first starting out.

Cozy Vibes

Visit a Bookstore

If you are a keen reader, a really easy and low-budget solo date to go on is a visit to a bookstore, either a local one or one you haven’t been to before. Treat yourself to a new book, or just have a browse, but enjoy the solo time to wander.

Go to the Movies

Fancy seeing something at the cinema? Instead of waiting for others to go with you, why not take yourself? This is a great solo date idea because it is cozy and enjoyable to sit alone and take in the film, why not treat yourself to some movie snacks too?

Visit the Park

If you have a park or green space near you, a lovely Spring and Summer solo date idea is to pack a little picnic, your book or laptop and sit out in the sunshine by yourself.

Out and About

Art Galleries and Museums

A lot of towns and cities have free museums and art galleries that you can visit. Enjoy wandering at your own pace and looking at what you want to by visiting some by yourself. A bonus idea is to take yourself for a coffee or lunch whilst you are there.

Nature Walk

Turn your phone off and enjoy a solo wander somewhere pretty and peaceful. This is a great solo date that is free and gives you a mood boost.

Bike Ride

If you have a bike, why not pack some snacks and take yourself off on a bike ride to clear your mind and enjoy some solo time exploring your local area at your own pace.

Creative Vibes

Pottery Painting

Pottery painting is often considered a group or couples activity, but there is no reason why you can’t take yourself there on a solo date too! Pick a time to go where you won't be rushed, have a hot drink and enjoy the creative process.

Try a New Class

Take a look and see if there are any craft classes happening near you, take yourself and try something new! You might make some new friends and learn a new skill from trying this solo date idea.

Theatre or Concert Trip

If there is something cultural going on around you, why not take yourself to the theatre or a concert solo. This is a great way to experience the show without distraction and enjoy a couple of hours unplugged from technology too.

All of these ideas are cheap or free, don’t take a huge amount of time and are great ways to dip your toes into the world of solo dates. The more you do things alone, the more your confidence grows, and the above ideas are all great things for beginners in the solo date world to try!
